Within ceramics, unique combinations of properties are possible. there are ceramics that are electrical isolators and heat conductors at the same time. This is not possible with any other material. Often this leads to more compact constructions, or the absence of otherwise necessary cooling.

New processes are possible by applying ceramics as construction material. For example, by using ceramics, chemical processes can be conducted at higher temperatures, increasing the efficiency. And ceramic bearing systems do not need any grease or oil lubrication.
