Ceramics have been approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration, and hence have been accepted as construction material. The material is chemically inert, and is found everywhere in food, beverage and pharmaceuticals industry.

 

Examples are the production of baby food, candy, coffee and tobacco, and the processing of fish, meat, fodder, cosmetics and medicine. Also manufacturing equipment as well as control and analysis equipment contain many ceramic components.

 

Even in the final stage - the packaging of the products - ceramics are encountered. Packaging is often done by using ceramic knives and parts.

 

Many industrial applications contain mixing, transporting, filling or dosing as process steps. Ceramic products are mainly applied because of their unique properties.
